Dr. Husni is a preeminent rheumatologist, researcher, and professor with over two decades of experience at Harvard Medical School and the Cleveland Clinic. Her research interests are centered around health outcomes of patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, namely rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis. Over the course of her career, Dr. Husni has earned numerous accolades, including the Physician Scientist Development Award and the Clinical Investigator Award given by the American College of Rheumatology. She additionally serves on the medical board of the Arthritis Foundation and actively mentors rheumatology and orthopedic research trainees.

Leonard Calabrese, DO

Head, Clinical Immunology, Co-Director of the Center for Vasculitis Care and Research

Dr. Calabrese is a highly decorated clinician who has worked in Cleveland Clinic’s department of rheumatic and immunologic disease since 1980. Across four and a half decades, Dr. Calabrese has been the recipient of numerous honors, such as the Phillips Medical of Public Service from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Leonard Tow Humanitarianism in Medicine award from the Arnold P. Goldman MD Foundation. In 2008, after being awarded the Theodore F. Classen, DO Chair in Osteopathic Research and Education, he became the first dual-chair holder in Cleveland Clinic’s history. Dr. Calabrese is also the author of more than 300 published peer-review articles, book chapters, and reviews on HIV, immunology, and rheumatology and has delivered lectures nationally and internationally.

Sonali Khandelwal, MD

Dr. Khandelwal is a rising figure in rheumatology who currently serves as a member of the American College of Rheumatology planning committee and the medical committee for the Arthritis Foundation of Chicago. As a co-director of the RUSH Osteoporosis Treatment Center, she is highly engaged in medical education initiatives and plays a leading role in curriculum development and weekly didactics with residents. Her clinical interests are osteoporosis and inherited connective tissue diseases, and she is listed as an author on over 505 publications catalogued by PubMed.

Brooke Kimmel, PharmD

Dr. Brooke Kimmel is a PGY1 trained clinical pharmacist with a focus in rheumatology. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at Purdue University before completing her residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During her residency, Dr. Kimmel devoted a portion of her time interviewing and assisting patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. She currently works at a health system-based specialty pharmacy at Rush University Medical Center. In this capacity, she partners with the Rheumatology Clinic to assist with high touch medication management of specialty medications required to treat inflammatory conditions. She enjoys mentoring pharmacy students and teaching them how an understanding of insurance and other financial resources can improve outcomes and reduce prescription drug costs.
